Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF):
The Australian Government has implemented some significant changes to the International Student Visa Program. One of the important changes called Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) has been enforced from July 1, 2016.

Benefits of SSVF :
Simplified student visa framework stands for simplifying the visa process where students will apply for their student visa in subclass 500 irrespective of their chosen level of study.

  1. The seven student visa categories that existed (eg 572 (Vocational) 573 (higher education sector) etc.depending on level of study of student are obsolete and replaced by only one subclass i.e. 500
  2. Single combined immigration risk model (country + university) will determine the financial and other relevant visa documentation required for visa application

All students are required to meet the following requirements under SSVF:

  1. Entry requirements i.e., Academics & English
  2. Financial capacity requirements i.e. Evidence of parents income to be AUD 60,000 for single & AUD 70,000 for married or Evidence of maintained fund to cover one year tuition fee + one year living expenses +return travel and health insurance
  3. Genuine Temporary Entry (GTE): Student should justify his / her intent of studies to genuine by his statement of purpose which would include his academic, immigration history, research on proposed course and why he / she chosen to study abroad, career opportunities and why he/she would assist visa officer to be satisfied that the student is not using visa for residency urpose.
  4. Health and character requirement
  5. Evidence of confirmation of enrolment (CoE)
